ELSIE is an independent research project investigating coordination under complexity. The first installment V0.1 is a gamified economic environment in the form of an installation that will render visible a living site of inquiry into governance and collective decision-making. V0.1 will eventually serve as a proto-platform for something bigger.
Most theoretical frameworks for governance and collective decision-making never transcend the space of their idealistic articulation. ELSIE is a bet that they should. We see the gap between discursive reflection and practical testing, and are risking to finally close it.
What differentiates ELSIE from other decentralised experiments is the integration of the shadow mode: allowing participants to challenge the democratic framework itself.
From within.
